Granola bars
A great little snack for those afternoon dips are walks in the woods. I often bring a bar with me when I’m going on a longer drive, perfect when you start to feel a little tired. Each week, there’s always at least a couple of people who order granola bars so I always make sure to make a little extra for us. And the best thing is that they freeze really well:)
Here’s what you need for 12 bars:
250 grams of oats
50 grams of brown sugar
100 grams of butter
25 grams of sunflower oil
1 tbsp of honey or maple syrup
Handful of chopped almonds (or other nuts of your choice)
Handful of sunflower seeds
About 30 grams of chopped dark chocolate
Turn the oven on 170 degrees/ 150 fan.
In a large bowl mix together oats, sugar, butter, oil and honey/maple syrup using your hands. Once well combined, add the nuts, seeds and chocolate. And give it a few squeezes.
Press it out in a 9” square tin linked with baking paper. Cut it into 12 bars. You need to cut beforehand as it will just become crumbs if you cut after baking.
Bak in the middle of the oven for about 20 min.
Allow to cool in the tin before breaking apart.
Once completely cooled, keep in an airtight container. They will last for about 1 week in the fridge and 2-3 months in the freezer.
Enjoy as an afternoon treat or bring it along when you go for a walk in the woods.
Coffee and granola bar, the ideal combo:)
